1st day program :
Arriving to Nis in the morning hours. Accommodation in ethno hotel “Duo D” in the center of the city. Walking tour through the old center with professional local English speaking guide. The tour starts from the authentic cobble street known as “Kazandzijsko sokace” and continuous to archeological and national museum with the display of archeological treasure from the Neolilithic to the Middle Age, 19th century villa of family Stambolijski, bust of Stevan Sremac and Kalca, the fortress of Nis (hamam, lapidarium, Pasha's residence, ancient Roman street on the way Via Militaris, the bust of king Milan Obrenovic, amphitheatre ). The tour continuous through the street of Karadjordje to he first gymnasium in Niš and to the theater. Continues by bus towards the necropolis and the martyrium of Jagodina Mala, well known from 4th century as main spiritual center in Naissus. Mosaics preserved only as wall decoration in the tombs (frescoes with the Monogram of Jesus Christ with the apocalyptic symbols of ά and ώ). Bus tour continuous through boulevard of St. Konstantin with the view to one of the biggest churches on Balkan dedicated to Konstantin and Jelena. Arriving at the archeological site of “Mediana” and the first Christian baptisterium in Europe. This was the summer residence of Emperor Konstantin dedicated to his mother Jelena. As he was born in Naissus and spent first 12 years here, the big influence of Christian spirit of his mother was strong enough to force Konstantin to declare Christianity as equal as other religion in the Empire in the Edict in 313 AD. It is believed that during the Jelena‛s visit of Jerusalem, she founded the True Cross and Jesus Wedge, and following to the legend Jelena sent the wedge to Europe in Nis to her son Konstantin. The tour leads to Spa of Niška Banja (the third most popular spa in Serbia), the early Christian tomb, villas and park. Free time for individual activities. In the evening hours - dinner in the traditional restaurant “Nislijska mehana” by the river side, in the enchantment environment with the traditional delicious food and acoustic southern sounds of old songs. Overnight in hotel.
2nd day program
Breakfast. Half-day tour by bus to the Sićevo gorge – protected as the area of exceptional biological diversity and the site or dwelling place of a great number of endemic and rare plant and animal species, as a remarkable example of the occurrence and interaction of geological, geomorphologic and hydrological phenomena, and as the landscape of prominent features of natural beauty. Sićevo canyon is a part of a prehistoric and major natural route which has been connecting Europe and Asia from the ancient times. Tour continue to the monastery of St.Paraskeva and the Virgin Mary from 17th century. At the way back to Niš – lunch break at traditional house restaurant “Kod Čiče”. Arrival in Niš in the late afternoon houres. The end of the tour
